October 4th 2010:- from President Bob

I have visited a number of hotels. Some of them were extortionate. I decided on the Devoncove Hotel.

I inspected the bedrooms, argued on the menu content, viewed where our meal would be served and, and,.....and.

There is Parking behind the hotel, (this is limited) but, parking on Sauchiehall Street, where the hotel is situated is free on a Saturday.

As usual you will be required to make your own reservations, to stay overnight if that is your plan and to book yourself into " The Clan Macfie Dinner," and notify the organiser of your plans. ( It is important that the hotel numbers for dinner tally with the organisers.)

Today, Jennifer informed me that the hotel is filling up for week-end 23rd October.

Please contact the hotel and make your reservations as soon as possible.

President Bob is the man organising the next meeting of the Clan Macfie Society. Unfortunately Bob's health has had some ups and downs recently and arrangements have not yet been finalised.

However, Bob did manage to be part of those supporting the Heidelberg Pipes and Drums at the recent Pipe Band Championships on Glasgow Green. We'll get a report on how they performed at the Glasgow meeting.

This week as a fact finding mission, Bob plans to dine out and view some private dining rooms.

One possibility is The Devoncove Hotel on Sauchiehall Street advertised as having private parking and meal and accomodation at very reasonable prices.

Members who are planning to attend are requested to contact Bob or Alastair (contact details on The Galley enclosure) nearer the time for exact details and prices, or check this page for updates.

Meanwhile if you want to make your own plans for a visit to Glasgow please go ahead and do so.

Can I say that I'll be in Glasgow on the 23rd of October and happy to meet folk for lunch. Shall we say that we will meet in the choosen hotel foyer at 12 noon. (PLEASE REMEMBER TO CONTACT BOB OR ALASTAIR OR CHECK THIS PAGE AGAIN TO CONFIRM THE VENUE.)
