Editorial,
Desachadh
I started to wax lyrical about the whole trip, and then along came a wonderful report from Linda McFee Gilcrest which made my wee report look a bit insipid. So, can I leave mine and give you her report instead. You will really enjoy reading it. On the last night of our holiday, after visiting Trollgild, we had a wonderful wee ceilidh in the dining room of one of the hostels. Bobby played his pipes ‘jist sublimely’ Bobby and Iain gave great renditions of their old scouts songs, David sang and the others sang the loveliest Swedish folk songs. The more they sang, the more they remembered. There was even a wee mouse came in from the rain to enjoy it all. Another one of these magical moments. The trouble with being the Editor is that, when you are enjoying yourself and having a blether, you should really have a wee notebook with you to jot things down as you see or hear them. Now, I am many things, but not ambidextrous in either hand or ‘mind’, so suffice it to say that the experience was wonderful and a lot better to have been there than to read about it. It loses so much in translation. How can you paint the atmosphere?
